Miles Barton is a dealer in period paintings from the 17th through to the early 19th centuries with an emphasis on historic portraiture. Encompassing British and Continental artists, the ever-changing stock includes oil paintings, drawings, pastels, and engravings. Recent discoveries have included works by major artists such as Thomas Lawrence, John Weesop, Godfrey Kneller, Mary Beale, François de Troy and Robert Nanteuil, with sales to the Houses of Parliament, Oxford and Yale universities and the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, as well as other institutions and private collectors worldwide.
Purchases can be made from the range of pictures, and occasionally other complementary works of art, offered in the catalogue. A selection of works that have been previously available can be viewed through the sold pages. For convenience most works are available for viewing at the weekend, through the London outlet in the famous Portobello Road and at other times by appointment.
